Sonoyta Center of Hope

On Sunday, May 7, we received an important presentation from Holly on the Sonoyta Center of Hope (Centro de Esperanza) for refugees and asylum seekers just across the border from Lukeville, AZ, in Mexico. We learned about the Phoenix East Valley Network and their important work meeting the basic needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ on their journey to hope and safety. Our "Ties To Mexico" project supports this group. For anyone who wishes to contribute individually to this ministry, here is some information about their needs!

So, what else can you do? Well, since you asked!...

You can help by collecting items the center needs.

You can  pick something to provide - like the blankets you have made.

If you want to be a regular donor, you can sign up to provide an item that we send every two weeks. Oryou can open a regular donation on Amazon to send me a bulk supply of something every month, like toothpaste or combs or washcloths.

You can visit. I can arrange a visit and a tour so you can see first hand what the place is like. I suggest you wait till fall.

You can tell your friends, neighbors, or people in another club that you belong to about us and see if they want to help- or if they want me to come speak to them. We especially need kids shoes and clothes, so ask your grandkids and their friends or neighbors with kids.

You can be an occasional driver.

You can be on my "sorting" list- we sort donations every 2 weeks and prepare a load. Then there is usually a bit of shopping for the items that we don't have on hand.

You can let me know if you want to be on my monthly network email list. Just send me your email address. You can pray for us.You can keep a collection box here and give the items to Tina each week so she can bring to me.

Not sure about something? Tina can put you in touch with me!

Nurturing Our Faith Beyond Sunday: Growing Closer to God in Daily Life

There are a myriad ways in which our faith can be nurtured and deepened beyond the experience of Sunday worship. While gathering in the church is a vital part of our spiritual journey, we believe that the opportunity to grow closer to God is ever-present in our daily lives.

Personal Testimony: Why I As a Gay Man Chose BMUCC

It wasn't easy for my husband and I to find a church home in the North Scottsdale/Cave Creek area that would welcome us as a gay couple, but the second we stepped through the doors at BMUCC, we knew we were home.
