From Pews to Views: Church Members Embark on Epic Summer Adventures at Home & On The Road

Our beloved community shares their summer photos from Arizona and around the world!

Summer is both a great time to escape the Arizona heat as well as stick around and enjoy the cool, safe sanctuary of our church, or homes and our pools! Here is a sampling of pictures from our members and friends and their summer activities this week!

Pictures from Scottsdale to Oregon to Switzerland!

This Week's Collage (9/6/23)

We are overjoyed for the Zardas and their new puppy! Welcome, Phee!
Richard Friese's family, enjoying some fun in the lake!
Our friends Bill & Sandra. We miss you!
The Waldport, OR, tiny home and vintage trailer park where Bill and Sandra are spending their summer.

This Week's Collage (8/30/23)

Carol's dog, Minnie, in Hood River, Oregon, on a walk!
The views in Hood River are far different from the Arizona landscape!
A change of view can be good for the heart, soul and mind, and the views in Oregon are very different from the Sonoran Desert view!

Christmas in August! Celebrated with these wonderful Scottish Shortbread cookies - a beloved family recipe of Jack's grandmother!
Ron is always willing to help with anything that's needed! Here he's getting the bulletins ready for church while Nancy practices "Silent Night" with the choir in the background.
Jack isn't letting his ankle surgery stop him from continuing to be an active participant in our choir!
Wilbert and Christopher dressed for Christmas in August, ready to hand out Christmas bells to people arriving for worship.
We are blessed to be a church that always has enough to share! Thank you to Jacqueline and Kathy for these amazing fellowship snacks and decorations!
Beloved BMUCC friend Pastor Len Sylvester and his wife, enjoying a nice cool gelato in the warm Northern Italian summer!
Summer in Italy is exhaustive for a pastor's dog. Poor Olive! ;-)

Trusty Bo and a whole group of awesome, smart kids in church last Sunday! Our resident lovebirds, Nancy and Ron, The Henningsens and Dunlaps on vacation, and the Upham family shares a beautiful reunion!

Strasbourg Canal Tour. A very interesting city that includes modern and old areas.  We docked our barge right in the middle of town.  Tomorrow we visit wineries..yeah.
There is an astronomical clock substantially larger than in Prague in the Strasbourg cathedral.  Very interesting.  The rose window is lovely.  There is also a protestant "cathedral" in Strasbourg as the community was also a major seat of Protestant Christianity after the reformation.
Picture from very top of Mt. Rigi which is south and east of Lucerne.  We took 40 minute boat ride to other side of Lake Lucerne, 30 minute cog wheel train up to summit, then came partway back down on train to catch cable car back down to lake's edge and boat back to Lucerne.  Storm was coming in fast. We got to top and took our pictures before rain came. Lucky timing for us.
Hi all! It is pouring rain tonight after 2 days of 90 degree temps - hot and steamy in Luzern.  Our guide, Roberto too us on a 3-wheeled bike tour of Luzern today.  It was great fun.  Several pictures are attacare included of us during the tour and some of the sites we saw. Luzern is a beautiful city on Lake Luzern.  Did some shopping today.  Tomorrow we take boat across lake, take cable car to top of Mt Rigi and then come back down via gondola and boat back to Luzern.  Switzerland is gorgeous - clean, orderly, filled with very friendly and industrious people, and glorious mountains.  We have had so much fun here.
Important sites in Luzern includes the chapel bridge that were built in 14th century.  The lake is beautiful as are several others in the area. Our guide is fabulous.
Views on Glacier Express from Chur to Zermatt...traditional Swiss mountain houses, ski lifts at top of the Alps, me on top of the world, glacier near Zermatt. Traditional Swiss church architecture.
While we miss Lissi’s singing during our Sunday worship service, we celebrate as she sings at the Salzburg Cathedral.  She will sing for an evening performance and then will sing mass.
The beautiful Salzburg Cathedral, is the seventeenth-century Baroque cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Salzburg in the city of Salzburg, Austria, dedicated to Saint Rupert and Saint Vergilius. Saint Rupert founded the church in 774 on the remnants of a Roman town, and the cathedral was rebuilt in 1181 after a fire. In the seventeenth century, the cathedral was completely rebuilt in the Baroque style under Prince-Bishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau to its present appearance. Salzburg Cathedral still contains the baptismal font in which composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized.
The interior of Salzburg Cathedral.
Lissi was also able to see the violin Mozart played as a child.  Now she is off to Prague where more adventures await.

Worked about 74 hoursplus one hour drive each way. Was a long 9 days !!!Google 1359 Meister-Stockley Rd,Pelican Lake, WI. Think you will see only trees !!!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

Our first-Sunday communion crew, Maria, Paula, Kathy and Jackie, help prepare The Lord's Table for our Sunday service.
Jackie's creative, patriotic cake helped us celebrate Independence Day during our fellowship hour on Sunday!

Though it was some time ago, Wilbert and Christopher wanted to share a picture from the visit of Wilbert's sister, Caroline, and her kids Janice and Harold. It was the first time the Schouten's had received a visit from family since moving to the U.S., and the entire family attended Sunday worship at BMUCC during their visit and felt warmly welcomed and loved our little church!
And last but not least, Ikarus and Isabella Schouten enjoy their usual 72 degree weather inside their home in Cave Creek, none the wiser to the soaring temperatures outside.
