Our Blanket Ministry Lives On in the Midwest and the Southwest!

How BMUCC members and friends across the U.S. are collaborating to bring comfort and hope to those waiting for a new life at our southern border.

One of the most interesting things about the Valley of the Sun is the "Snowbird" phenomenon - residents who live part of the year here and part of the year in the northern United States. At BMUCC, we spend half the year missing our dear snowbirds, but that doesn't mean they're any less active in their ministry work!

Below are some beautiful scenes from our beloved friend, Tina Bechtel, and her blanket ministry for our assylum-seeking friends across the Arizona border in Mexico, which she continues to carry out at her home church in Green Bay, Wisconsin! But how to get them back to Scottsdale? With a little help from our dear, road-tripping Marilyn Riggs, of course!

We are inspired by the dedication of these good people to this ministry, where every knot in every one of these 92 blankets is a prayer for the wellbeing and success of those who will eventually use these blankets for warmth and comfort. God bless all those in Wisconsin and Arizona who are taking part in this ministry!

SERMON: Valentines and Broken Hearts

We can deal with our strong feelings or we can run. We need other people to deal with feelings. These moments require us to get over ourselves long enough to acknowledge and honor those around us as a first step.
